AQN Strategies is excited to announce our relationship with BankRegData.com (“BRD”), a website that has cleaned and provided call reports data to its users for nearly 10 years. AQN will use this data to bring you insights into the latest trends in US Banking. Look for the “BRD Insights” tag on upcoming blog posts.

Per its website, BRD “is focused on building a simple to understand solution to reviewing Bank Call Report and UBPR performance.” BRD sources its data from the Quarterly Call Reports that each bank must report to the FDIC quarterly. The data is publicly available in the FFIEC Central Data Repository (“CDR”), though it is difficult to navigate. BRD queries and processes the data from the CDR to make it user-friendly to peruse and analyze. Finally, AQN pulls the cleaned data from BRD to perform analysis for prospecting, and to produce this blog series!

Call reports data includes detailed financials on the operations and results of all FDIC insured banks; high-level figures such as total assets, total loans, and total deposits; and capitalization data and detailed portfolio performance on several consumer and commercial portfolios. Most of this data is available going back to 2003, and all data goes back to at least 2012.

Over the next several months, you will see periodic posts built on analysis of this data. Our BRD Insights posts will range from deep dives on specific institutions to a broad review of the banking market. Our first post will feature an updated look at the deposit landscape heading into 2020. Later we will dive into the asset mix at different banks.

We are excited to start this conversation, and we hope that it can become a bi-directional discussion before long. If you would like to opine on a recent post, please email the author with your thoughts. Alternatively, if you think AQN can improve your organization, contact us today!
